The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has taken action to bring the remains of the legendary Turkish classical music artist Muazzez Abacı, who passed away in the United States, back to the homeland. A ceremony will be held for the master artist on Monday, November 17, at the Atatürk Cultural Center in Istanbul, after which she will be laid to rest.
One of the unforgettable names of Turkish classical music, Muazzez Abacı, passed away in the USA where she was receiving treatment for heart disease. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism intervened for the transfer of the artist's funeral to Turkey. A ceremony will be held for Abacı on Monday, November 17, at the Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center.
LOST HER FIGHT FOR LIFE IN THE USA
Muazzez Abacı, one of the legendary interpreters of Turkish classical music, had been under treatment in the USA for a while due to heart disease. Despite all the interventions by doctors, the famous artist passed away on her 78th birthday. Her death caused great sorrow in the art community and among her fans.
MINISTRY TOOK ACTION FOR THE TRANSFER OF REMAINS
According to a report by Sabah, following the artist's death, an official process was initiated for the transfer of Abacı's remains to Turkey with the initiative of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. The Ministry, which provides support to the family, is meticulously following the works related to the transfer of the body and the ceremony preparations.
A FAREWELL CEREMONY WILL BE HELD AT AKM
A farewell ceremony will be held for Muazzez Abacı on Monday, November 17, at 11:00 AM at the Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM). It is expected that the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, will also attend the ceremony. After the ceremony, the artist will be laid to rest next to her father, Oktay Altıoklar, in Ankara.
SHE WAS AWARDED THE TITLE OF STATE ARTIST
Having released dozens of albums, given hundreds of concerts, and appeared in many television programs throughout her career, Abacı was honored with the title of "State Artist" by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1998. The famous interpreter, who played an important role in bringing Turkish classical music to a wider audience, also appeared on screens that same year by portraying herself in the series "Sibel."
