According to a statement from the Turkish Weightlifting Federation, on the 5th day of the World Para Powerlifting Championship continuing in the capital Cairo, national athlete Abdullah Kayapınar, who competed in the men's 49 kg category, became the world champion with a lift of 179 kg. Talat Ünlü, the President of the Turkish Weightlifting Federation, congratulated Abdullah Kayapınar for bringing Turkey its first gold medal in the organization and for having the National Anthem sung.
HE HAD LIFTED 180 KG AS WELL
The crescent-star champion para powerlifter Abdullah Kayapınar also lifted 180 kg at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, winning a silver medal in the 49 kg category, and he became the first Turkish male para powerlifter to win an Olympic medal in this category.
