In the investigation regarding the theft of 25 kilograms of gold and 50 kilograms of silver from the custody office at the Büyükçekmece Courthouse, the number of arrests has risen to 12.

On December 1, 2025, a major embezzlement scandal came to light at the Büyükçekmece Courthouse. The situation was reported to the Public Prosecutor after the embezzlement officer Erdal Timurtaş, who was assigned to the Trust Office, had not shown up for work for a long time. Following this, the Chief Public Prosecutor requested the opening of the trust room and safes with the presence of officials.

50 KILOS OF SILVER AND 25 KILOS OF GOLD MISSING

Upon examination, it was determined that approximately 50 kilograms of silver and 25 kilograms of gold, which were kept in the office, were missing. Following this finding, a comprehensive investigation was launched.

THE OFFICER WAS ARRESTED

As part of the investigation, judicial trust officer Kemal Demir was arrested for the crime of "embezzlement." During the operation process, a total of 10 people were detained, including the parents and sibling of the fugitive suspect Erdal Timurtaş, a suspect found in the vehicle used to transport the gold, and another person who came to the scene to collect some of the stolen gold.
