In a traffic accident involving three vehicles in İzmir Menderes, Sultan, Emine, and Fatma Baran, siblings from the same family, along with Özkan and Suna Nazlı, lost their lives. The Baran siblings were buried side by side in their hometown of Mardin.
In a chain collision involving 3 cars in İzmir, 5 people lost their lives, including siblings Sultan (22), Emine (26), and Fatma Baran (24), who were laid to rest side by side in their hometown of Mardin.
The accident occurred yesterday around 03:30 on the Menderes-Seferihisar highway in the Keler area. The car with license plate 35 CLF 493, driven by Özkan Nazlı (45), collided with the car with license plate 35 ZY 756, driven by Sultan Baran. The car driven by Nazlı, which spun out of control, crashed into the car with license plate 45 ARV 589, driven by S.U. (21). Health, gendarmerie, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the area upon notification. Those trapped in the vehicles were rescued by the intervention of the fire brigade. In the accident, car driver Özkan Nazlı, his wife Suna Nazlı (45), and the other car's driver Sultan along with her sisters Emine and Fatma Baran lost their lives. The injured Eda Doğa Doyuran (20) and Zeynep Nazlı (20) were taken to Menderes State Hospital by ambulances. The driver of the car who escaped the accident unscathed, S.U., was taken to the gendarmerie station for his statement.
Özkan Nazlı and his wife Suna Nazlı, who died in the accident while returning to their home in Menderes from a holiday visit, were buried yesterday in İzmir Kemalpaşa. It was learned that the Nazlı couple, who were engaged in car trading and also involved in the buying and selling of agricultural products, had a wounded daughter, Zeynep Nazlı, who was discharged after treatment. It was reported that the other injured, Eda Doğa Doyuran, was in critical condition and was still receiving treatment. It was learned that Zeynep and Eda were childhood friends.
THEY WERE BROUGHT BACK TO THEIR HOMETOWN The bodies of Sultan, and her sisters Emine and Fatma Baran, who died in the accident, were brought to their hometown of Mardin by air this morning. The bodies of the 3 sisters, picked up by their relatives from Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar Airport, were taken to the rural Dara neighborhood of the Artuklu district. After the funeral prayer held there, the 3 sisters were laid to rest side by side amid tears and lamentations. It was noted that the accident occurred while Sultan Baran, who had recently returned from military service, was returning home from a mussel business in Menderes with her 2 sisters.
