The housing sales figures for March have been revealed. According to the latest statistics announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), housing sales across Turkey in March increased by 5.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 110,795. The provinces with the highest number of housing sales were Istanbul with 19,820, Ankara with 10,203, and Izmir with 7,513, while the provinces with the lowest sales were Ardahan with 28, Bayburt with 33, and Tunceli with 63.
RECORD INCREASE IN MORTGAGED HOUSING SALES
Housing sales in the January-March period increased by 20.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 335,786. Mortgaged housing sales across Turkey in March increased by 41.5% compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 18,225. The share of mortgaged sales in total housing sales was 16.4%. Mortgaged housing sales in the January-March period increased by 87.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 51,729.
In March, 4,331; and in the January-March period, 12,143 mortgaged housing sales were made as first-hand sales.
92,570 HOUSES CHANGED HANDS DUE TO OTHER SALES TYPES
Other housing sales across Turkey in March increased by 0.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 92,570. The share of other sales in total housing sales was 83.6%. Other housing sales in the January-March period increased by 12.7% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 284,057.
FIRST-HAND HOUSING SALES REACHED 33,307
The number of first-hand housing sales across Turkey in March decreased by 3.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 33,307. The share of first-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 30.1%. First-hand housing sales in the January-March period increased by 13.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 99,876.
77,488 HOUSES CHANGED HANDS IN SECOND-HAND SALES
The number of second-hand housing sales across Turkey in March increased by 9.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 77,488. The share of second-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 69.9%. Second-hand housing sales in the January-March period increased by 23.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 235,910.
1,574 HOUSES SOLD TO FOREIGNERS IN MARCH
Housing sales to foreigners in March decreased by 11.5% compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 1,574. The share of housing sales to foreigners in total housing sales in March was 1.4%. The provinces with the highest number of housing sales to foreigners were Istanbul with 635, Antalya with 496, and Mersin with 141.
Housing sales to foreigners in the January-March period decreased by 19.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, totaling 4,578.
