The trial of 38-year-old Christie Lee Kennedy, who ran over her cheating husband and his mistress with her car in Australia, has concluded. Kennedy caught her husband kissing his mistress thanks to the 'Find My iPhone' app and drove her car over the couple. Security camera footage of the incident has garnered significant attention on social media.
An incredible incident occurred in Queensland, Australia. 38-year-old Christie Lee Kennedy ran over her cheating husband David Larkin and his mistress Zowie Noring with her car. Footage of these horrifying moments, which took place in a quiet Brisbane street, has surfaced for the first time and has made a significant impact on social media.
In the incident that took place in the Wavell Heights neighborhood of Brisbane, Christie Lee Kennedy tracked her husband's location using the 'Find My iPhone' app on his phone. Although her husband claimed he was picking up their children from daycare, Kennedy caught him kissing and hugging his mistress. According to court records, after seeing the couple, Kennedy quickly drove her BMW SUV towards them and slammed on the brakes at the last moment. However, she still hit both her husband and his mistress, knocking them to the ground.
After getting out of the car, Kennedy punched mistress Noring in the face and hurled heavy insults at her. Then, getting back into her car, Kennedy parked a little further ahead and returned to her husband David Larkin.
The security camera footage (CCTV) of the incident, which was previously shown only to the jury and not disclosed to the public, was obtained by Nine News. One of the neighbors stated that they heard the sound of the crash from their home and immediately called an ambulance.
Christie Lee Kennedy pleaded guilty to "dangerous driving" at the Brisbane District Court last month. Although she was found not guilty of "malicious acts with intent to cause bodily harm" during last year's trial, the jury could not reach a unanimous decision on the charges of "causing bodily harm." The prosecution dropped the "causing bodily harm" charges against Kennedy in March.
The prosecutor emphasized that Kennedy was driving on the wrong side of the road, did not steer the vehicle away, and traveled on the wrong side for about 45 meters. "She hit both of them from the front. Larkin was thrown into the air and landed on the road. Noring also fell onto the road. After hitting Noring, [Kennedy] immediately attacked her, which shows that she did not feel remorse for her actions at that moment," he said.
The prosecution requested that Kennedy be sentenced to three years in prison. However, defense attorney Penny White argued that her client did not intend to deliberately hit the couple, but only wanted to "get there quickly." White added, "The only reason for this was that she found out her husband was kissing someone else, and she was unaware of it."
Judge Paul Smith sentenced Kennedy to nine months in prison for two offenses last month, but this sentence was completely suspended for two years. Judge Smith stated, "I think it would be fair to conclude that you were quite shocked by what you saw, despite your previous suspicions. You are clearly an excellent worker and a very good mother, and it is truly shameful that you committed this offense, but I have a firm view that this crime is out of character for you and that the likelihood of you reoffending in a similar manner is low."
Kennedy was ordered to pay a total of 10,000 Australian dollars (approximately 218,000 TL) in compensation, with 5,000 Australian dollars (approximately 109,000 TL) to each of her ex-husband and mistress Noring. If she fails to pay this amount within two weeks, she could face a month in prison. In court, it was stated that the couple suffered both physically and emotionally from the incident. Kennedy's driver's license was suspended for nine months, and her conviction was recorded on her record.
