In Izmir, the couple Öznur and Hasan Başkaya claimed that after the video in which they sang the song "Ne Bilsin Eller" at their wedding, the song's owner, Ankara-based Coşkun, filed a lawsuit demanding 300,000 TL for a settlement. Responding to the allegations, Coşkun stated that the lawsuit was not due to the singing of the song at the wedding, but rather because the couple included the song in a video they made without permission.
Hasan Başkaya, a conservatory graduate living in İzmir, and Öznur Başkaya, a civil servant who sings as an amateur, got married in June 2023. The music-loving Başkaya couple performed the song "Ne Bilsin Eller" by Ankaralı Coşkun at their wedding. They immortalized this day and received great applause from the guests attending the wedding.
REQUESTED 300 THOUSAND TL
The video of their performance was shared on social media, especially on wedding pages, and the owner of the song, Ankaralı Coşkun, congratulated the couple by commenting under one of the videos. Following the great interest in the footage, the Başkaya couple faced an unexpected process. It was claimed that Coşkun Direk, known as Ankaralı Coşkun, filed a complaint against the couple after the video went viral and demanded 300 thousand lira for reconciliation.
"THEY SHOT A CLIP WITHOUT PERMISSION FOR THE SONG"
After the news broke, Coşkun Direk stated that his work was used without permission and a clip was shot, and he made the following statements on his social media account:
"Today, I encountered a sensational issue. Allegedly, due to a supposed incident, a lady and a gentleman read my work 'Ne Bilsin Eller' as their exit song at their wedding, and supposedly I have taken them to court. Yes, there is a legal process; however, I did not initiate this action. Since my works are fully protected, legal follow-up has been carried out by my lawyers and my company. However, I must emphasize that this case is not related to their reading my work at the wedding. The lady and gentleman I mentioned have been involved in the legal process for entirely different reasons. Nevertheless, they have distorted the situation and served it to the media to defame me and create a lynching campaign, trying to create the perception that the issue was about reading my work. However, this has nothing to do with the matter. Everyone can read my works; I share them so that people can read. Due to this manipulation, I have also instructed my lawyer to file a lawsuit for moral damages; the legal process has been initiated on a moral basis as well. You will be able to better distinguish between right and wrong then."
