In a cafeteria in the Kağızman district of Kars, footage has emerged of an incident where Specialist Sergeant Selman K. (29) shot and killed electricity distribution company employee Yakup Aydın (32), claiming that Aydın was looking at him sideways.

"WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME SIDEWAYS?"

On April 6, around 16:00, the incident occurred in a cafeteria where Yakup Aydın was sitting with a friend. A person approached him, and they got up from the table and headed towards the exit of the cafeteria. At that moment, Specialist Sergeant Selman K., who was sitting alone at the table and fiddling with his mobile phone, went over to the pair. According to allegations, when Selman K. asked Yakup Aydın, "Why are you looking at me sideways?", a discussion broke out, which escalated into a fight.

HE PULLED THE TRIGGER SUCCESSIVELY

Cafeteria staff and customers intervened, trying to separate the parties. Selman K. drew his service pistol. As Yakup Aydın was pushed towards the door and descended the stairs, Selman K. fired at him in quick succession. Aydın, who was hit by the bullets and fell, was severely injured as he was dragged down the stairs for a while.

HE GAVE HIS LAST BREATH IN THE HOSPITAL

After the incident, Selman K. left the scene, distancing himself from the wounded Yakup Aydın. Aydın, who was taken to the hospital, could not be saved. He was buried in tears by his relatives in Kağızman Ortaköy. After the procedures at the police station, Specialist Sergeant Selman K. was transferred to the Kars Courthouse for security reasons, where he exercised his right to remain silent. Charged with 'intentional murder', Selman K. was arrested and sent to prison.
