The strike of 23,000 workers employed by İZELMAN, İZENERJİ, and Egeşehir, which are affiliated with the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, continues with determination on its third day. Due to the strike, garbage piles have formed on some streets in Konak. Mayor Cemil Tugay, who presented a new proposal, offered a plan that eliminates all additional payments and is based solely on net salaries, inviting the union back to the negotiating table.

The strike, which began as a result of the deadlock in the Collective Labor Agreement (CLA) process involving 23,000 employees in İZELMAN, İZENERJİ, and Egeşehir between İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and the Genel-İş union, continues on its third day. TRASH ACCUMULATED ON STREETS AND AVENUES
One of the areas affected by the strike was the Municipal Cleaning Department. Due to the workers being on strike, trash was not collected in some streets, and garbage accumulated on Kıbrıs Şehitleri Street in the Konak district.
TUGAY ANNOUNCED HIS NEW PROPOSAL AND INVITED DISK TO THE TABLE
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, who made a statement regarding the strike on his social media account, said, "The Genel-İş executives are denying and rejecting the sincere figures we proposed at the table, and we are watching with sadness. The representatives of Genel-İş describe numerous additional payments as if they are being covered from outside our municipality's budget and virtually ignore them. Let's completely remove the additional payments in approximately 50 different items in the draft Collective Labor Agreement. Let's pay amounts starting from 65,000 TL to 80,000 TL as a net monthly salary. Additionally, let's add 10% to this increase in September, which would mean a net monthly salary ranging from at least 71,500 TL to 88,000 TL. I invite the DISK Genel-İş Union to the table to discuss this proposal and to sign our agreement as soon as possible," he stated.

Tugay, who believes that our employees will appreciate how this proposed figure can be provided with great sacrifice, stated, "We are trying to show every kind of self-sacrificing approach so that the grievances of the people of İzmir do not prolong. We are waiting for union representatives at the negotiation table to determine the daily wages that will meet the proposed figures. We will eliminate the confusion created over additional payments. We will discuss the net salary to be paid to everyone every month," he said.
