Following the military operation launched by the Syrian army west of the Euphrates River, the terrorist organization YPG/SDF announced that it would withdraw from the region, and the army announced that it had begun to enter the city.
The Syrian army deployed its units early in the morning to enter the village of Humayma in the rural area of the city.
After the removal of the earthen barriers on the roads, the Syrian army entered the area from the west of the city to establish control in Deir Hafir.
Syrian state television al-Ikhbariyya announced that the first groups of Syrian army units had begun to enter the western region of the Euphrates River, starting from the city of Deir Hafir.
THE REGION IS ON A CRITICAL LINE
Deir Hafir is located west of the Euphrates River, making it a critical point in terms of military and political balances on the ground. The region is considered one of the prominent areas in recent discussions about control zones and security arrangements in northern Syria.
YPG ANNOUNCED IT WILL WITHDRAW
Ferhat Abdi Şahin, one of the leaders of the terrorist organization YPG/SDF targeted by the Syrian army, announced that the organization's elements would withdraw to the east of the Euphrates River as of 07:00 in the morning.
The Syrian army declared the areas under the control of the organization in the west of the Euphrates, including Deir Hafir and Meskene, as military zones on January 13, and announced that a humanitarian corridor had been opened on the M15 highway for the safe evacuation of civilians.
In a statement made by the army, maps of the terrorist points to be targeted in Deir Hafir were published, and civilians were asked to stay away from these areas, with the operation reported to have started at 22:00 local time.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense later stated that it welcomed the decision of YPG/SDF to withdraw from the contact lines west of the Euphrates River.
