Stadium manager Ali Yılmaz stated, "Routine maintenance of the pitch is carried out during the winter season. We use artificial turf reinforcement tools and provide artificial lighting to strengthen the grass."

WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED TO MINUS 17 DEGREES, A NYLON COVER WAS SPREAD ON THE PITCH
After the heavy snowfall in the city, air temperatures dropped to minus 17 degrees. Efforts were made to protect the pitch at RHG Enertürk Energy Stadium, which hosts the matches of Zecorner Kayserispor competing in the Super League. During the break in the league, maintenance and repairs were carried out by the Sports Inc. under the Metropolitan Municipality, and a special nylon cover was spread over the grass to prevent the pitch from being affected by frost. While the stadium pitch was not allowed to breathe with the nylon cover at minus 17 degrees, the cover was removed and the grass was aerated every 2-3 days. Work is ongoing at the stadium, which also has an artificial lighting system, to ensure that the grass is not damaged by the cold weather.
'WE ENSURED THE GRASS STAYS HEALTHY'
Stadium manager Ali Yılmaz stated, "Routine maintenance of the pitch is carried out during the winter season. We use artificial turf reinforcement tools and provide artificial lighting to strengthen the grass. We are already doing this by moving around the field throughout the winter. There was an extraordinary cold after the snowfall. Air temperatures dropped to minus 17, 18, and even 20 degrees. This system alone is not sufficient here. We needed to lay an additional protective cover. We have a breathable cover and also nylon covers. Since it is very cold, we preferred the nylon covers. We covered the pitch with nylon for 2-3 days. We also removed the cover every 2-3 days to aerate. This way, we ensured the grass stays healthy," he said.
'THE SUN IS IMITATED IN THE SHADY AREAS'
Yılmaz, who stated that work is ongoing for the second half of the league, said, "Right now, our pitch is good. We did maintenance work after the last match. Then this cold weather came. Still, our seeds have sprouted. Our pitch is in good condition. You will see this after we remove the nylon. We are ready for the second half of the league, but we still have some time ahead. This situation will be better for us, and we will start the second half with a nice pitch. The artificial lighting used in the stadium mimics the sun in the shaded areas due to the structure of the stadium. The grass needs sunlight. Since we cannot provide this due to the structure of the stadium, there is a lot of shade on the fields, especially in the winter months. That’s why we use these lights; this way, the grass photosynthesizes more and strengthens its roots, staying stronger. We have been using artificial lighting for years," he said.
