The interest rate decision that global markets have been closely watching has been announced. The U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed), which revealed its final interest rate decision for 2025, lowered the policy rate by 25 basis points to a range of 3.5-3.75%, in line with expectations. Thus, the Fed has made a total of three cuts this year, reducing rates by 75 basis points.
The interest rate decision awaited by global markets has been announced.
FED'S INTEREST RATE CUT DECISION
The Federal Reserve (Fed) has decided to cut the policy interest rate by 25 basis points at its last meeting of 2025. With this cut, the policy interest rate range in the U.S. has come to 3.50-3.75 percent.
With the Fed's decision, the projections that investors were expecting maintained a single interest rate cut expectation for 2026.
The statement implied more uncertainty about when it would lower interest rates again, and a limited change in the wording drew attention.
In the statement, the Fed returned to the phrase it used last December, "while assessing the scope and timing of additional adjustments," just before pausing interest rate cuts.
