A farewell ceremony for the master of Turkish classical music, Muazzez Abacı, who passed away in the United States on November 12, 2025, will be held on Sunday, November 16, at 12:00 PM at the Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center. The artist's funeral will take place on Monday, November 17, following the noon prayer at Kocatepe Mosque in Ankara, and, in accordance with her wishes, she will be laid to rest next to her father, whom she lost at a young age, at Cebeci Asri Cemetery.

The master of Turkish Classical Music, Muazzez Abacı, passed away on November 12, 2025, in the USA. According to her will, the artist's body will be buried next to her father, whom she lost at a young age, in Ankara. The burial procedures are being carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Directorate of Religious Affairs.

78-year-old Muazzez Abacı suffered a heart attack while visiting her daughter in the United States on November 5. After the intervention, the artist was fitted with a stent and was admitted to intensive care due to complications in her kidneys. Abacı, who passed away on her birthday, November 12, 2025, left her fans and the art world in mourning.

Carrying the traces of growing up without a father throughout her life and expressing her devotion to her boxer father, Oktay Altıoklar, at every opportunity, Abacı had stated in her will that she wanted to be buried next to him. According to a report from Sabah, her family announced that the artist would be buried in the family cemetery in Ankara in accordance with this will.

THE FUNERAL WILL BE BROUGHT TO TURKEY TOMORROW

The artist's body will be brought from the USA to Turkey tomorrow. After an official memorial ceremony to be held at the Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM), she will be sent to Ankara in accordance with her will. Many figures from the art world, as well as the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, are expected to attend the ceremony.
