The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the latest housing sales figures across the country. Accordingly, housing sales in Turkey increased by 20.1% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 112,818.

HOUSING SALES INCREASED BY 29% IN THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF THE YEAR

Housing sales in the January-February period increased by 29.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 224,991.

MORTGAGED HOUSING SALES REACHED 16,778

In Turkey, mortgaged housing sales in February increased by 90.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 16,778. The share of mortgaged sales in total housing sales was 14.9%. Mortgaged housing sales in the January-February period increased by 127.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 33,504. In February, 3,956; and in the January-February period, 7,812 mortgaged housing sales were made as first-hand sales.

96,040 HOUSES CHANGED HANDS THROUGH OTHER SALES TYPES

In Turkey, other housing sales in February increased by 12.9% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 96,040. The share of other sales in total housing sales was 85.1%. Other housing sales in the January-February period increased by 20.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 191,487.

FIRST-HAND HOUSING SALES REACHED 33,784

In Turkey, the number of first-hand housing sales in February increased by 18.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 33,784. The share of first-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 29.9%. First-hand housing sales in the January-February period increased by 23.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 66,569.

79,034 HOUSES CHANGED HANDS IN SECOND-HAND SALES

In Turkey, the number of second-hand housing sales in February increased by 21.0% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 79,034. The share of second-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 70.1%. Second-hand housing sales in the January-February period increased by 31.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 158,422.

RUSSIANS PURCHASED THE MOST HOUSES AMONG FOREIGNERS

Housing sales to foreigners in February decreased by 21.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 1,457. In February, the share of housing sales to foreigners in total housing sales was 1.3%. The provinces with the highest number of housing sales to foreigners were Istanbul with 539, Antalya with 503, and Mersin with 89. Housing sales to foreigners in the January-February period decreased by 23.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 3,004. In February, the highest number of housing sales by nationality was made to citizens of the Russian Federation with 256, followed by Iran with 133, and Iraq with 99.
