Burhan said, "There are football players, managers, and coaches who are betting on Turkish leagues through illegal betting sites in countries like Albania, Bulgaria, and Northern Cyprus. This situation has caught the attention of Interpol and has been shared with the Turkish police."

ILLEGAL BETTING INVESTIGATION

The statement by the President of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, which shook the refereeing community, was accepted as a report by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that the investigation will deepen and continue. They informed that it is an ongoing investigation and that the latest allegations will also be addressed within this scope.

Following TFF President Hacıosmanoğlu's statements, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation had been initiated regarding the alleged betting involvement of some referees who officiated in football matches in April 2025.

A detention order was issued for a total of 21 individuals, including 17 referees and 2 club presidents, as part of the betting investigation.
