Turkish Aviation Board (THK) President Osman Yıldırım and four other people were arrested on Friday by an Ankara court over corruption claims. The nine have been detained in relation with a plane production project the THK has been conducting.
The THK head was taken into custody on Tuesday along with eight others in Ankara. Ret. Gen. Yıldırım is accused of leaking confidential information concerning the plane project. He also serves as chairman of board of trustees at THK University.
The financial crimes unit conducted searches at the THK headquarters in Ankara and the Gökçen Aviation company office.
Seven of the suspects were referred to courthouse for arrest by the prosecutor conducting the investigation. The court ruled to arrest five of the suspects while the two others were released on probation. (Cihan/Todays Zaman)
