Three Killed By Separate Roadside Bombings İn Baghdad

20.03.2017 17:43

At least three people were killed and another five injured on Monday in two separate attacks in Iraqi capital Baghdad, according to a local police source.

A bomb planted by unknown perpetrators exploded on the side of a road in northern Baghdad's Al-Taji district, killing two people and injuring four others, Police Captain Nazhan al-Khedr told Anadolu Agency.

Shortly afterward, al-Khedr said, a civilian was killed -- and another injured -- by a similar roadside bomb in the city's western Al-Furat neighborhood.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks.

In recent months, devastating bombings -- often featuring explosive-laden vehicles -- have become commonplace in Iraq's violence-prone capital.

The Iraqi authorities typically blame such attacks, which frequently occur in civilian areas, on the Daesh terrorist group, which captured large swathes of territory in northern and western Iraq in 2014. -
