In Amasya, a farmer implemented a 'frost protection system' by freezing 400 fruit trees that began to bud in February. The garden, covered in ice that looks like snowflakes from the air, appears to be in bloom when viewed from a distance.

Farmer Fatih Şahin, who has nectarine trees in a 6.5-decare garden in the village of Yerkozlu, located in the Taşova district of Amasya, managed to protect all of his fruits from last year's spring frosts that were effective at night by spraying water on the trees, causing their surfaces to freeze. After the heavy snowfall that affected the region this February, 45-year-old Şahin tried the same method against the extreme cold, resulting in icicles forming on all of his trees.
"THE INSIDE OF THE ICE IS WARM"
Indicating that he applied this method when the air temperature reached -12 degrees, Şahin said, "The nectarine tree wakes up early due to its variety. It can be affected by the cold. The inside of the ice is warm. It prevents the bud from sensing the cold outside."
"IF HE HADN'T APPLIED THIS SYSTEM, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN LOSSES IN THE GARDEN"
Stating that no awakening or budding of fruits has been observed outside this garden in Amasya, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Gürol Çetin said, "Our farmer has implemented a frost protection system by freezing. If he hadn't applied this system, the entire garden would have been lost, but now it seems that nearly 60% of the garden will be saved."
"I THOUGHT THE TREES WERE BLOOMING, BUT IT WAS ICE"
Mustafa Gölbaşı from the village of Yukarı Baraklı, who entered the garden with his wife after seeing the trees on the road, said, "I thought the trees were blooming. They looked like they had bloomed with pure white flowers. It turned out to be ice. We have never seen such a system before."
"WE DIED OF CURIOSITY. IT CAUGHT EVERYONE'S ATTENTION"
Güllü Gölbaşı also stated, "We died of curiosity. It caught everyone's attention. Some thought it was foam being sprayed. However, it was actually covered in ice. The trees were frozen. The view is very beautiful."
