Trabzonspor's head coach Fatih Tekke made statements following the 4-1 defeat against Galatasaray. Commenting on transfers, Tekke said, "We like the player, they want 10 million euros, and it's not happening! We are left with interim players, and 3-5 months is not enough to get them fully ready! We need to acquire a complete player, but that also seems difficult."
Trabzonspor lost 4-1 to Galatasaray in the semi-finals of the Turkcell Super Cup at Gaziantep Büyükşehir Stadium. Speaking at the press conference held after the match, Trabzonspor's head coach Fatih Tekke stated that they were struggling with a very depleted squad and expressed his sadness over the defeat.
'WE ARE PUNISHED FOR THE SMALLEST MISTAKE' Evaluating the match, Fatih Tekke said, "Our start to the match was good, we had two chances. After the goal we conceded, things changed. We were planning to play according to the opponent, but we struggled to solve problems in defense. We conceded the goal due to the wrong positioning of one or two of our players while waiting and the opponent's skill. We also conceded the second goal from a throw-in. We have serious positional mistakes. We have been working for 8 months. What saddens me is that if we couldn't manage to play positional football for 8 months, it won't work. Playing with emotion is different from playing with position. Despite the fact that we have worked hard on this, we conceded goals. We are punished for the smallest mistake. We were definitely not behind in terms of play. We also started the second half well. We found the goal, we tried very clear positions for 2-2, but it didn't happen. After that, we saw the third goal in our net. We lost in moments. All the goals we conceded are goals we should not accept. This is our cup match before the league, we need to make transfers that can play directly in the areas we are missing as soon as possible. Because we are very lacking. I congratulate Galatasaray. I don't think we were below in terms of play, but we lost," he stated.
'WHETHER GOOD OR BAD, THEY SHOULD BE BY YOUR SIDE' Responding to a question about the low number of fans at the match, Tekke said, "There is no difference between the feeling I had on the first day I came during the Göztepe match and now. A person should have their loved ones and friends by their side, no matter what, whether good or bad. Today, we did not feel this at all in terms of fans," he said.
'MY VIEW ON TRANSFER IS NOT PERFORMANCE' Speaking about transfer activities and squad restructuring, Tekke said, "We reflected our game on the field, what we are trying to play with the current squad is clear. We showed this today as well. If we had better players, we would play this game better. My view on transfer is not performance, but to take the game one step further. Additionally, we have serious injuries, Savic's situation is clear, Antony played for a short time. Okay is injured, Baniya is injured, the other players are young, we need at least 2 center-backs. We have no alternatives for right-back and left-back. We also have a lack of width. We urgently need these. If we had money, I would want a midfielder and a number 10. If something happens to our players, we will be very lacking. This team is young and newly formed. At the beginning of the season, nearly 20 players were sent away, loaned out. I also have players that I want to leave now. My view on transfer is to take our game one step further," he said.
'THEY WANT 10 MILLION EUROS' Continuing his remarks, Tekke said, "Contacts are being made with the clubs of the players we like in terms of transfer, but the prices are not reasonable. We like the player, they want 10 million euros, and it doesn't happen! We are left with interim players, and 3-5 months is not enough to make them complete! We need to acquire a complete player, but that also seems difficult! If we can't achieve the difficult, we will struggle in every match. With the slightest injury... We already have injuries, we have deficiencies. Ozan Tufan had a groin pain, but he played left-back for the first time in his life! No one wants these situations," he commented.
