TURK Party Decides To Support Presidential Candidate İhsanoğlu

The Social Reconciliation Reform and Development Party (TURK Party) has decided to support Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu -- the candidate jointly nominated by the two leading opposition parties -- in the upcoming presidential election in August during its party council meeting on Wednesday.

Announcing the party council's decision, TURK Party Chairman Ahmet Eyüp Özgüç said: “The current political scene in the country doesn't leave us any other choice.”

Turkey's opposition presidential candidate, Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) presidential candidate Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Selahattin Demirtaş, the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) presidential candidate, will run in the Aug. 10 presidential election.(Cihan/Today’s Zaman)
