Turkey has deemed Israel's new tender for the construction of 77 apartments in what Ankara says is an illegal settlement site in East Jerusalem unacceptable, saying it contravenes international law.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that such illegal moves that endanger the basis of a two-state solution cast further doubt on Israel's sincerity in the peace process with the Palestinians.
Ankara has long voiced its criticism of new settlement projects in the West Bank and East Jerusalem on the grounds that such moves only place in jeopardy the fragile efforts aimed at solving the decades-old Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
