28.01.2015 12:48

Turker Arslan, Turkish Olympic Committee vice president and Anti Doping Commission president, has been re elected arbitrator.

Turker Arslan, Turkish Olympic Committee vice president and Anti-Doping Commission president, was re-elected arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration for Sport Wednesday.

According to the Turkish committee's statement, Arslan was re-elected for another four years.

Arslan, who has been carrying out his duty at the arbitration court since 2007, will maintain his post until the end of 2018.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport, a judicial body to solve disputes, is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In August 2013, the arbitration court approved penalties given by the administrative body of European football, UEFA, against two Turkish top division football clubs, Fenerbahce and Besiktas, under color of match-fixing activities during the disputed 2010-11 Spor Toto Super League season that ended up with Fenerbahce's championship.

Fenerbahce was banned from the UEFA competition for two years, while Besiktas received a one-year ban from UEFA competitions.
