Turkey: Police Detain 4 İn Ankara Anti-Terror Raids

30.07.2015 14:33

Suspects accused of belonging to Daesh are held in Turkish capital.

Security forces have detained four suspects in Turkey's capital in an ongoing anti-terrorist operation, police sources said Thursday.

Anti-terror officers raided four addresses in Ankara and detained four suspects with alleged links to Daesh. What were described as 'organizational documents' were also found.

Operations against terrorist groups including the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and Daesh across the country are ongoing.

More than 1,300 people have been arrested in a recent wave of counter-terrorism swoops across Turkey, it was revealed on Wednesday.

In a parliamentary announcement, Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said 1,302 people had been detained in raids across 39 provinces targeting suspected supporters of Daesh plus Kurdish and left-wing radicals.

Mass arrests across Turkey since the July 20 Suruc suicide bombing that killed 32 people have concentrated on those with suspected links to Daesh, the PKK and its umbrella group the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) as well as the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party–Front.

Turkey has also launched airstrikes against Daesh in Syria and PKK camps in northern Iraq. - Ankara
