Besiktas were hit with a 100,000 euro ($107,000) fine and a suspended ban from UEFA competitions on Wednesday following crowd trouble at last week's Europa League fixture in France.
In a statement, UEFA said the Champions League and Europa League ban was suspended for two years. Lyon were given the same punishment.
Last Thursday's game delayed by 45 minutes as people spilled on to the pitch after fighting broke out between the rival fans and missiles were thrown.
There was also violence outside the Parc Olympique Lyonnais stadium before the game, which Lyon won 2-1 with a late winner.
Both clubs were charged over crowd disturbances and the use of fireworks. Lyon also faced charges relating to blocked stairways, poor organization and the pitch invasion.
UEFA said the disciplinary body had "considered that the supporters of both clubs were responsible for crowd disturbances at the match." -
