Turkey's President To Visit Kuwait

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay an official visit to Kuwait between April 27 and 28 on the invitation of Kuwaiti Emir, an official statement said Tuesday.



"The visit will reinforce the historical and strong fraternity ties between the two countries, and strengthen the coordination on regional issues," the Turkish Presidency said in a statement. 



Erdogan and Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah are expected to discuss bilateral relations and developments in the region, notably Yemen and Syria.



Erdogan is also expected to meet Kuwaiti businessmen.



They will exchange views on the projects for expanding cooperation on trade, the construction business and defense industry.



According to Turkish Foreign Ministry website, Turkish-Kuwaiti diplomatic relations started with the accreditation of the Turkish Embassy in Beirut to Kuwait in 1969.



The total trade volume between the two was registered at $609.6 million in 2010.
