The plane carrying the "VSS Unity" suborbital vehicle, which includes Tuva Cihangir Atasever, Turkey's second astronaut, took off from the Spaceport facility in New Mexico, USA. Atasever conducted 3 experiments during the flight, which was expected to last 1 hour and 10 minutes. After the experiments, Atasever returned to Earth.

TUVA CİHANGİR ATASEVER'S SPACE JOURNEY ENDED

Following the mission of Turkey's first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, the second mission in space officially began. The plane carrying astronaut Tuva Cihangir Atasever, who is on board the suborbital vehicle, took off from the Spaceport facility in New Mexico, USA.

SUBORBITAL VEHICLE RETURNED TO EARTH

The "VSS Unity" suborbital vehicle, including Turkey's second astronaut Tuva Cihangir Atasever, completed its mission by landing on Earth.

WHAT EXPERIMENTS DID TUVA CİHANGİR ATASEVER CONDUCT?

Atasever, who will carry out a scientific mission, had his astronaut suit specially revised to carry the equipment for 3 experiments. As part of the BEACON experiment, Atasever carried a near-infrared spectroscopy measurement device on his head throughout all phases of the flight to examine the blood flow in the prefrontal cortex region of the brain and the dynamics of cerebrospinal fluid.

In addition to this experiment, the psychological changes and transformations caused by seeing the Earth from a distant point were also collected from Atasever as examples and analyzed. The IvmeRad Radiation Dosimeter experiment provided information on the amount of radiation exposure. This allowed for predicting the amount of radiation exposure for individuals who will go to space stations in subsequent processes.

INSULIN PEN TEST IN SPACE WILL BE CONDUCTED FOR THE FIRST TIME

The joint experiment of the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) and Axiom Space, the Insulin Pen Test in Space, will test the dose transfer efficiency of 2 different insulin pens placed in a special box in space for the first time. Thus, the effectiveness of treatment methods that can be applied to diabetic individuals in future years when they go to space stations in Earth's orbit will be tested for the first time.

As part of the Vesicle Analysis in Suborbital Flight, extracellular vesicles in biological samples collected from Atasever before and after the flight will be isolated using a specially developed microfluidic chip. This will explore the potential for developing certain adaptation therapies that can be applied to astronauts before they go into space.
