Young Turkish ballet dancers Kadir Okurer and İlhan Durgut were honored at the third edition of the “Grand Prix of Siberia,” an international ballet competition held Oct. 5-9 as part of the 3rd International Forum "Ballet of the XXI Century."
Okurer won the silver medal and a cash prize. The dancer has since been invited to be a contestant at the International Dance Competition “Città di Spoleto” held in Italy, the general director of the Turkish State Opera and Ballet, Selman Ada, said as he hosted the ballet dancers at his office in Ankara this week.
Durgut was also presented with a cash prize after the competition and offered a place as a guest artist in Bulgaria's Sofia Opera and Ballet.
Ada gave the dancers plaques for their success in the competition during a ceremony at the office.
In the meantime, the Bodrum International Ballet Festival, which has been organized annually for 12 years, was admitted to the International Federation of Ballet Competitions during the forum.
