Turkish Consumer Prices Forecast To Show Slights Rise

30.07.2015 15:48

Panel of economists predict 0.05 percent rise in July.

Consumer prices are expected to show a 0.05 percent rise in July from  the previous month, according to a survey of economists by Anadolu Agency on Thursday.

The forecast of 21 economists was for a slight increase with lowest estimate indicating a rise of 0.37 percent while highest was for 0.8 percent.

Official figures are expected to be announced on August 3 by the Turkish Statistical Institute.

The mean forecast for year-end inflation was down slightly from 7.64 percent in June to 7.5 percent in July with estimates ranging from 8 percent to 6.8 percent.

Based on economists' estimates, annual inflation in July is expected to fall from 7.2 percent in June to 6.77 percent.

Central Bank Governor Erdem Basci has linked a significant drop in inflation to the bank potentially adopting a policy of easing monetary constraints. - Ankara
