ROME (AA)- A Turkish-flagged freighter sank after colliding with another merchant ship off the Adriatic port of Ravenna Sunday and a number of people were injured and missing, maritime sources said.
Firefighters and coast guard raced to the scene and at least one person was rescued. In all 11 people were said to be passengers on the two vessels, a number of people were injured or missing, according to first reports.
Ambulances were waiting on the docks at Ravenna ready to take survivors to hospital.
