Critics say the government should leave such work to whatever new government is formed and should deal only with the standard procedures of running the country from day to day.

The Foreign Ministry's decision took effect on Wednesday when the Official Gazette published the news that 16 ambassadors previously serving abroad would be reassigned, while 24 new ambassadors were appointed to posts abroad.

Some of the new ambassadors appointed to the foreign posts are as follows:

Reha Keskintepe, who is to be replaced by Director Ahmet Vakur Gökdenizler as the ambassador to Austria, is now to head the embassy in Malta. Deputy Director Kezban Nilvana Darama was made ambassador to Russia. Deputy Director Hayriye Kumaşçıoğlu was appointed ambassador to Estonia and Deputy Director Kıvılcım Kılıç has been assigned to Kosovo.
