Turkish Opposition Mp Elected Vice Head Of Socialist International

MP from Turkey's main opposition party elected as vice president of Socialist International.

Umut Oran, an MP from Turkey's main opposition party, was elected as vice president of the Socialist International in Geneva on Saturday.



The lawmaker from the Republican People's Party, better known by its initials CHP, is the fourth Turkish national to be elected as vice president of the organization. 



Oran will serve as vice president for two years. 



He said that he would use his position to develop freedom, democracy and social justice both in Turkey and the world.  



The Socialist International is a global organization of socialist and social democratic parties. 



It has over 160 member parties from over 100 countries.
