Turkish dailies cover the killing of two soldiers in a suicide attack plus President Erdogan’s remarks on the PKK.

Monday's dailies dedicated their front pages to Sunday's suicide attack which killed two soldiers and wounded more than 30 others in Turkey's eastern Agri province.



"Two tons of explosives," was VATAN's headline on a report claiming that the attack which was carried out by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).



According to Agri Governor's Office, a tractor laden with around two tons of explosives hit the Karabulak Gendarmerie Station, some 15 kilometers (9 miles) from Agri's Dogubeyazit town at around 3 a.m. local time (0000 GMT).



YENI SAFAK ran a front-page headline: "The most-vile attack," adding that the four wounded soldiers were in a critical condition.



Tensions between the Turkish army and the PKK have increased after a string of deadly attacks in the country. The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union.



In other news, Turkish newspapers focused on President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's remarks on the latest PKK attacks.



"No democracy tolerates terror" was SABAH's headline, "ing Erdogan who was speaking to reporters on his plane back from an official visit to Indonesia.



"They [the PKK] promised to lay down arms in 2013. They did not keep their word, and started attacks again" said Erdogan, according to paper.



STAR also cited Erdogan as saying "90s remained behind" referring to those who assume that Turkey has gone back to the 1990s when the PKK was most active.



"We left those days behind. We managed to build a new Turkey; all these traps will come to nothing," Erdogan added.



Turkey has responded to the bloodshed by arresting more than 1,300 suspected supporters of proscribed organizations, including Daesh and the PKK.



A 'solution process' to end the 30-year conflict between Turkey and PKK militants began in 2013. The process has stalled after the recent murders of a number of police officers and soldiers in the country. - İstanbul
