Turkish Soldiers Killed In Ambush Laid To Rest In Eastern Turkey

A soldier, who was killed in an ambush set by outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants in the eastern province of Van on late Tuesday, was laid to rest with a funaral ceremony.

The funeral ceremony of Lieutenant Emre As was attended by large numbers of people, including top military officials. After the ceremony, body of the soldier was sent to his hometown Tokat for burial.

Lieutenant Emre As was fatally shot as militants opened fire with long barreled rifles while soldiers were patrolling the border zone to prevent smuggling activities, after which militants escaped.
