The incident occurred around 11:30 PM in the apartment on the 12th floor of the İdil Apartment located on 58th Street in the Kılavuz neighborhood. The mother, A.Ş., who was learned to have separated from her husband a long time ago, came home late at night to a horrifying scene. When A.Ş. entered the house, she found her children, Umutcan and Melisa Şimşek, motionless in a pool of blood.
