03.07.2015 19:48

Casualties were killed while walking past mud house in search of accommodation during Thursday night’s rainstorm.

Two people have been killed in a flood in Ghana's second city, Kumasi.

Sekina Sumaila, 50, and her son, Eric Agyei, five, were killed after a mud house collapsed during a rainstorm in a suburb of Kumasi, the capital of Ghana's Ashanti Region.

The deaths were confirmed by local government representative Prince Aeron Dua.

The casualties were killed while walking past the mud house in search of accommodation during Thursday night's rainstorm.

Two other children who were injured in the incident were admitted to a local clinic to receive treatment.

The occupants of the collapsed mud house escaped unhurt.

Thursday night's accident occurred exactly a month after 150 people died during another flood and fuel station explosion in the national capital, Accra.

Last Saturday, one person died drowning in another flood in Kumasi.

An operation to demolish buildings on waterways both in Accra and Kumasi is currently underway. - Gana
