Two Police Officers Killed In An Armed Attack In Adana

Two police officers were killed when terrorist outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party militants carried out an armed attack to a police station in southern Turkish Province of Adana’s Pozanti district on Friday.

Reportedly, eight terrorists attacked headquarters building of Pozanti Police Department at 02:35 Turkish local time, when police officers responded the attack, an armed clash broke out between police policemen and terrorists. At the end of the clash, police officers İsa İpek and Serdar Kazar were killed while two terrorists, who were trying to enter the police from back side of the building, were killed. Soon after the clash, other terrorists were fled from the scene.

Meanwhile, a great deal of police units and special police forces were dispatched from Adana to Pozantı district. Adana Provincial Police Chief Cengiz Zeybek, arrived at the scene after the incident, took information concerning the clashes. Republican People’s Party Adana Deputy Zülfükar İnönü Tümer also arrived at the scene soon later the incident, whished condolences both police department and to Turkish nation.

On the other hand, close relatives of slain policemen, rushed to the scene soon after the incident, broke into tears. The death bodies of the policemen were taken to the morgue of Pozantı State Hospital.
An official ceremony is expected to be held for the martyred police officers.
