Two soldiers were martyred in a PKK terrorist attack in southeastern Sirnak province of Turkey on Friday, a security source said.
Two other soldiers were wounded when the terrorists launched an attack on Andac gendarme command in Uludere district, the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media, told Anadolu Agency.
The injured were airlifted to Sirnak State Hospital via helicopter.
An operation is underway to apprehend terrorists in Uludere district.
Separately, two terrorists were killed during an operation in Cukurca district of neighboring Hakkari province on Thursday, according to the statement issued Friday by Turkish General Staff.
According to a statement issued by the Sirnak Governorate, at least three PKK terrorists were killed on Friday in Bestler-Dereler, thus, the number of terrorists killed in ongoing counterterrorism operations in the region rose to 29 since Wednesday.
More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015. -
