Update - 6 Palestinians Killed By Israeli Gunfire İn W. Bank

25.07.2014 22:18

Israeli troops open fire on Palestinian protesters rallying in the West Bank in solidarity with the embattled Gaza Strip.

A Palestinian boy was killed by Israeli troops in the West Bank on Friday evening, bringing the total Palestinian death toll in the occupied territory to six on the 19th day of Israel's ongoing onslaught on the blockaded Gaza Strip.

Eid Rabbah, 17, was killed when Israeli forces opened fire on a pro-Gaza rally in the Oroub refugee camp in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, a medical source at Hebron's public hospital told Anadolu Agency.

Tayeb Shehata, 22, was killed when Israeli forces opened fire on a pro-Gaza rally near an army checkpoint near the West Bank city of Nablus, Palestinian Health Ministry spokesman Taref Ashour had said earlier.

According to witnesses, Israeli forces used teargas and rubber bullets to disperse protesters at the Hawara checkpoint.

Several protesters reportedly suffered temporary asphyxiation as a result of teargas.

Three other Palestinian protesters were killed on Friday – and as many injured – in clashes with Israeli forces in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, a medical source said.

Another Palestinian youth was killed the same day – and two others injured – when a Jewish settler opened fire on Muslim worshippers as they left a mosque in Nablus following Friday prayers.

Another three Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli forces in eastern Ramallah, where an AA photojournalist was also reportedly hurt in the melee.

Tension continues to run high throughout the occupied West Bank against the backdrop of Israel's devastating onslaught on the blockaded Gaza Strip, now well into its third week.

At least 836 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed across the strip since Israel's offensive began on July 7.

Over the same period, a total of 38 Israelis – 35 soldiers and three civilians – have been killed by Palestinian resistance fighters.

On Thursday, two Palestinian demonstrators were killed and dozens injured in clashes with Israeli forces near the West Bank town of Qalandia.
