US Boxing Legend Ali Hospitalized With Pneumonia

American boxing legend Muhammad Ali was hospitalized Saturday with a "mild" case of pneumonia, his spokesperson told media.



The 72-year-old, who suffers from Parkinsonism, was in stable condition and was expected to be released soon, Bob Gunnell said via New York-based Daily News.



The spokesperson did not disclose the name of the medical center where the ex-boxer was hospitalized due to his family's request for privacy, according to media reports.



Ali was the first boxer to win the world heavyweight championship on three separate occasions. He successfully defended this title 19 times.



Originally Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr., he took the name Muhammad Ali in 1964 after converting to Islam.



Known for his exceptional speed, superb footwork, and the ability to take a punch, he is considered one of the greatest fighters in the history of boxing.
