We Are Concerned Operation Against Koza-İpek Group Says EU

European Union said they are concerned by not only the operation you mentioned launched this morning on the companies linked by the Koza İpek group for suspicion of financing of terrorism but also for example by recent arrests of the VICE News journalists in Turkey on the terrorism related charges.

During the routine press conference, answering to a reporter’s question, EU commission Speaker Maja Kocijancic recalled the importance of presumption of innocence and the right for an independent and transparent investigation in case of any alleged wrongdoing with full respects of the rights of the defendants.

“Any country negotiating the EU accession needs to guarantee the human rights, the respect for human rights including freedom of expression in line for example with the European Convention of Human Rights,” said Kocijancic.
