While the timing of terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan's historic call remains a subject of curiosity, Tülay Hatimoğulları, co-chair of the DEM Party, made a statement regarding the matter. Hatimoğulları expressed that Öcalan's call would be ready by the end of February or the beginning of March.
After MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's call for 'Öcalan', how the process will continue was a matter of curiosity. Since the beginning of the process, the DEM Party's delegation to İmralı has met with Öcalan face to face twice. Informational meetings were held with the parties that have a group in the Parliament.
Before the visits, which are expected to take place three times, a series of visits were recently organized to Northern Iraq. At the end of the process, it is expected that Öcalan will call on the terrorist organization PKK to lay down their arms.
15 FEBRUARY WAS EXPECTED BUT DID NOT HAPPEN
Previously, the date of 15 February was discussed regarding when Öcalan would make a call. This date was significant because it was the date of Öcalan's capture abroad and his extradition to Turkey. However, as the end of February approached, the eagerly awaited statement did not come from İmralı.
END OF FEBRUARY BEGINNING OF MARCH
While the date for Öcalan's expected call was eagerly awaited, another statement came from the DEM Party. Hatimoğulları, who made a statement regarding the date of the expected call from Öcalan, pointed to the end of February and the beginning of March; "We expect Öcalan to make a statement soon. We have provided the information that this will be at the end of February and the beginning of March. Another important question is, what will be the nature of this statement? Of course, we do not know its content sentence by sentence, but we know its main idea. The main idea is this: It will be a call to ensure that the Kurdish issue is resolved in a democratic and legal framework, free from conflict and violence. We know that all the social segments we mentioned are eagerly awaiting this call."
