Commercial vehicles carrying cargo or passengers intercity will be obliged to install winter tires starting from Dec. 1, 2014.
The law, which was prepared by the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs and came into force two years ago, encouraged the installment of winter tires on vehicles owned by transport companies.
However, no fine was set for non-compliance.
After Dec. 1, these companies will be fined up to 519 Turkish Lira ($235) if their vehicles do not comply with the law.
There are currently over 4 million vehicles in Turkey which carry cargo or passengers intercity.
Winter tires provide more stable road handling in temperatures below 7 degree Celsius and on wet, snowy grounds.
They are expected to reduce the traffic accidents, which kill many people and cost a huge amount of money each year.
