A passenger travelling from Nigeria to Istanbul has been rushed to hospital after falling ill on the journey.
The Italian woman, thought to be infected with malaria, had a fever and threw up on board a Turkish Airlines flight from Nigeria's northern city Kano. She had been given anti-malarial drugs by Nigerian doctors prior to the plane's departure.
Nigeria is one of the countries struggling with an outbreak of the Ebola virus, which in recent months has killed more than a thousand people in West Africa. Turkey has increased its measures against any possible outbreak of Ebola since last month and urgently responded to suspected Ebola cases.
The virus first appeared in 1976 in simultaneous cases and causes a fever that is often fatal.
