CANBERRA -- Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop announced on Wednesday that her country will provide an additional 15 million AU dollars (13.1 million U.S. dollars) for life-saving assistance to people in Iraq and Syria through the United Nations and other agencies.
An estimated 16 million people inside Iraq and Syria are in need of humanitarian assistance, half of whom have been forced to flee their homes by the ongoing violence perpetrated by terrorists. (Australia-Assistance)

TOKYO -- Japan logged a good trade deficit of 958.3 billion yen (about 8.95 billion U.S. dollars) in September, marking the 27th straight month of red ink, government data showed Wednesday.
According to Japan's finance ministry, exports in the reporting period jumped 6.9 percent from a year earlier to 6.38 trillion yen (59.6 billion dollars) while imports rose 6.2 percent to 7.34 trillion yen (68.6 billion dollars). (Japan-Trade Deficit)

TOKYO -- Japan will send a delegation to the Democratic People' s Republic of Korea (DPRK) next Monday to investigate the Japanese nationals' abduction issue, Japan's Kyodo News said Wednesday.
The delegation, which groups around 10 official, will hold two- day talks with the DPRK's special investigation committee on the issue from Tuesday, the Kyodo News citing Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga as saying. (Japan-DPRK-Talks)

MANILA -- A U.S. Marine suspected of killing a Filipino transgender was transferred to a facility of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the Philippine capital region of Metro Manila on Wednesday morning.
AFP chief General Gregorio Pio Catapang, Jr. said U.S. Marine Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton was airlifted by U.S. authorities from his temporary detention facility on board USS Peleliu docked in Subic Bay to the AFP headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
