Yemeni authorities have arrested four Al-Qaeda leaders responsible for a spate of suicide attacks and abductions of soldiers in the Arab Peninsula country.
"This is a milestone in efforts aimed at fighting terrorism," a source in the Yemeni intelligence service was "ed as saying by the official Yemeni news agency on Wednesday.
According to the source, the four Al-Qaeda leaders were members of a cell responsible for the killing of 14 Yemeni soldiers in the southern Seyoun city in August.
In August, Al-Qaeda militants kidnapped and executed 14 Yemeni soldiers after stopping their bus in the city.
Yemen has been dogged by political turmoil since a popular uprising that erupted in 2011 toppled longstanding president Ali Abdullah Saleh one year later.
