Yemeni Delegation İn Ethiopia For Federalism Talks

A Yemeni delegation is holding talks in Ethiopia with the aim of sharing experience on federalism and political administration, an Ethiopian official said Saturday.



"Members of the delegation include senior officials, representatives of different political parties, civic associations as well as women and youth associations," Gebru Gebreselassie, communication director of the House of Federation, told Anadolu Agency.



He said the delegation, which arrived on Friday, was briefed on the Ethiopian federal system, the country's constitution and the structure and duties of the House of Federation.



Talks also focused on research papers on the constitution, federalism and fair distribution of wealth, according to Gebreselassie.



Yemeni delegation members, for their part, expressed desire to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.



The 112-member House of Federation is the upper house of the bicameral Federal Parliamentary Assembly (parliament).



The House members are elected by the State Councils. They are tasked with interpreting the constitution, organizing the Council of Constitutional Inquiry and deciding on issues relating to the rights of Nations, Nationalities and Peoples to self-determination, including the right to secession and promoting equality among the Ethiopians.
