Barcelona's young star Lamine Yamal will no longer sign jerseys for fans due to a new commercial agreement. The young footballer will continue to take photos, however.
The shining star of Barcelona, Lamine Yamal, is in the spotlight not only for his performance on the football field but also for his commercial decisions. Despite being only 17 years old, Yamal has attracted the attention of global brands, and after receiving a new offer, he has decided not to sign jerseys for fans anymore.
PHOTO INSTEAD OF SIGNATURE
According to a report from the Spanish press outlet Mundo Deportivo, the young star has reached the stage of an agreement with a website that sells signed products of sports stars. This situation has turned into an instruction from the agency managing Yamal's endorsement contracts to stop signing. Yamal will continue to take photos with fans, but due to certain commercial commitments of Barcelona, he will no longer provide autographs.
INSTRUCTION NOT TO "SIGN"
Club sources reported that Barcelona is in talks to provide limited access to Yamal's signatures in order to fulfill some of its commercial obligations.
The young footballer's management team is set to make an agreement with a company that will market signed jerseys, boots, and other products.
Yamal has been instructed not to sign directly for fans anymore in order to increase the commercial value of his signature. Fans wishing to obtain signed products will only be able to purchase them through this special website.
NBA MODEL COMING TO EUROPE
The agreement has not yet been formalized, but it is reported that the parties are close to reaching a handshake. This type of signature limitation model is a common practice, especially among NBA stars. Barcelona has announced that they are following the example of LeBron James' signing policy with a similar strategy.
