YouTube is now starting to seriously enforce the 'living at the same address' rule in its Premium Family plan. A location verification will be conducted every 30 days to check whether family members are actually living in the same household. YOUTUBE HAS UNDER SCRUTINY PREMIUM USERS
With the new regulation, users in the family plan who are found not to live in the same household as the plan manager are at risk of losing their Premium privileges.
The YouTube Premium Family package, offered for a monthly fee of 159.99 TL, provides advantages such as ad-free video viewing and access to YouTube Music for up to 5 users. However, to benefit from these advantages, all members must live in the same household. This condition, which has not been monitored closely enough until now, will be seriously tracked with YouTube's new decision.
WARNING MESSAGES HAVE BEEN SENT
Recently, some users have encountered warning emails from Google titled "Your YouTube Premium family membership will be paused." These messages informed that individuals identified as not living in the same household must verify their status within 14 days, otherwise, they will lose their Premium rights.
Users identified with address discrepancies will not be removed from the family group, but as long as they do not complete the verification steps provided by Google, they will not be able to benefit from advantages such as ad-free video and music listening. In this case, those individuals will encounter ads again.
LOCATION VERIFICATION WILL BE DONE EVERY 30 DAYS
YouTube will conduct location verification every 30 days during this process to check whether family plan members are truly living in the same household. With the implementation becoming stricter, users living at different addresses may now be excluded from the Premium service. This new step seems to aim to prevent the misuse of family plan benefits while also requiring users to comply with platform rules.
