One Turkish soldier was martyred in a clash with PKK terrorists in eastern Turkey Thursday, a security source said.
According to the source, who asked not to be named due to the restrictions on talking to media, the forces launched an air-supported counterterrorism operation at Tendurek mountain pass, located between Van and Agri provinces.
PKK terrorists had stopped and burnt vehicles Wednesday in the same mountainous region.
On Thursday, an armed fight took place between the Gendarmerie Forces and the PKK terrorists in the region that left one Turkish soldier martyred and some other personnel injured.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.
Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of around 1,200 people. -
