Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced good news for young people who aspire to become police officers. In his statement, Minister Yerlikaya said, "We have good news for the young people who dream of wearing the glorious uniform of our 179-year-old security organization. We are recruiting 12,000 police officers."

After the Security Meeting held at the Muğla Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Center, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya provided evaluations and announced the news that those who want to become police officers have been waiting for.

"WE HAVE GOOD NEWS"

Minister Yerlikaya stated that 12,000 police officers will be recruited, saying, "We held the 28th peace and security meeting in Turkey. We have good news for our young people who dream of wearing the glorious uniform of our police organization, which is a 179-year-old tree. We are recruiting 12,000 police officers. Of these, 9,600 will be from bachelor's degree graduates, with 8,160 being male and 1,440 being female. We want to recruit 2,400 police officers from associate degree graduates, with 2,040 being male and 360 being female. A total of 12,000 police officers will be recruited with the announced exam, adding strength to our police organization. I wish success to our police candidates in advance," he said.

REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A POLICE OFFICER

So, what are the requirements to become a police officer? The relevant conditions will be announced along with the application schedule of the Ministry of Interior. Although no official statement has been made on the subject, the conditions from previous years provide clues about the requirements.

Here are the requirements sought in police candidates in previous years:

  • To be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey.
  • To have graduated from a higher education institution abroad that is recognized as equivalent by the Council of Higher Education, or to be a graduate of a bachelor's or associate degree program.
  • To have scored at or above the base score determined by the Ministry in the KPSS. The KPSS scores required in the previous year's recruitment: For bachelor's degree graduates, a minimum score of (60.00) from the P3 score type in the KPSS conducted in 2021 or 2022, and for associate degree graduates, a minimum score of (65.00) from the P93 score type in the KPSS conducted in 2022.
  • For the spouses or children of martyrs or duty-disabled individuals, to have scored at least 80% of the score specified in Article 8(c) of the POMEM Entrance Regulation. Special conditions for the previous year's recruitment for the relatives of martyrs and duty-disabled individuals: For bachelor's degree graduates, a minimum score of (48.00) from the P3 score type in the KPSS conducted in 2021 or 2022, and for associate degree graduates, a minimum score of (52.00) from the P93 score type in the KPSS conducted in 2022.
  • To be under 30 years old as of January 1 of the year in which the exam is held, considering the age before any age corrections made after turning 18.
